Delaware Girls Softball Report

Newark and McKean played each other in the last game of the season at Midway Complex and started of the 2017 season playing each other again as the Jackets won 22-1.  Adrienna Berry pitched a complete game 2 hitter for the Yellowjackets and hat two hits and drove in four runs.  Freshmen Charlotte Rose started the game off with her first Varsity hit and scored four times in the game.  First year Yellowjacket Sophomore Emily Barks opened up the game in the third inning with a two run RBI double and drove in three runs for the game.  Shannon Smith, Kailee Beam, and Megan Hunter each had two hits for Newark.

McKean’s Savanna Macintosh-Clough turned in some great defensive plays at third for the Highlanders.  Valerie Clark had a double and scored the first run for McKean.  Mackenzie Szymanski drove in Clark for the Highlander run.

 

 

The lady knights and lady Ravens battled in a highly competitive softball game.  The Ravens picked up 3 runs by taking advantage of a couple of errors in the 4th inning followed by a timely hit from Shannon Lord as they defeated the Lady Knights 7-4.  Both pitchers settled in and pitched shutout ball the last several innings.

 

Emily Coyle led the Spartans going 2-4 with 4 RBIs. Janelle Hessler was 4-5 on the day and had all but the home run for the cycle. Cassie Rath earned her first win as a Spartan as they defeated the Lady Vikings of St. Elizabeth 8-7.

Julia Casson went 5-5 with 2 runs scored for St. Elizabeth. Caitlyn May had a 3 run HR.

 

Camryn Thompson threw a complete game  18-0 shut out win over Seaford, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out 6.  Offensively, the Royals were led by Ashlyn Stonebraker (2-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI & 4 runs scored) and Thompson (3-4, double, 5 RBI).  Siera Jones, Bec Hastings and Camryn Breasure also contributed 2 hits each.

 

Rajene Bowe went 3 for 4 for Milford  and sister Nia Bowe went 2 for 4 for MIlford as they defeated the Lady Riders of Caesar Rodney 9-2. Carissa Thorne went 2 for 4 for CR, Courtney Malin went 3 for 4 for CR, Sophia Badell went 2 for 3 for CR.

:Gabby Lano went 2-2 and scored a run for Red Lion and Annie Penrod went 1-3 and scored Archmere’s only run. Both Kayla Murray and Caroline Paolantonio only gave up 3 hits each as the Lions defeated the Lady Auks 3-1.

 

Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity scored three runs in the fifth inning as they defeated the Indians of Indian River 10-5. Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity’s big inning was driven by a double by Sara Miller and a single by Olivia Faragher.

Olyvia Smith earned the win for Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity. She threw seven innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, and striking out four. Patille took the loss for Indian River. She pitched three innings, allowing five runs, six hits, and striking out two.

Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity collected 15 hits. Lexi Moore, Miller, Smith, Madison Drummond, and Faragher each collected multiple hits for Smyrna Lady Eagles Varsity Softball Varsity.  Faragher had the most chances in the field with six.

Snyder went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Indian River in hits

 

Mackenzie Short pitched a one hitter striking out 8 Silver Eagles to earn the 10-0 win. Offensively the Jaguars were lead by Mallory Weir and Haley Jones. Who both went 4 for 4. Among Weir’s four hits were a double and a triple. While Jones belted 2 doubles and had 3 RBI’s. Appoquinimink also had multiple hit days from Andrea Johnson and Taylor Coleman. Morgan Hertigae had an infield single for Hodgson.

 

Delmar’s Lexi Harris went 3-3 with 4 Rbi’s. Paige Lynch also had a 3 hit ball game. Avery Wheatley, Jordan Moore, Madison Lemon, and Sydney Tyndall each had 2 hits a piece. Starting pitcher Tracey Pleasanton pitched 3 innings striking out 8 batters and allowing 1 hit. Alyssa Weldon came in for 2 innings of relief as they defeated Arcadia of VA 21-1.

 

Freshman Sheridan Long hurled a 3 hitter with 0 earned runs in her high school debut as the Lady Hawks of St. Georges defeated the Lady Redskins of Conrad 18-3 . Senior Krissy Hawke went 4 for 4 at the plate for St. Georges and Junior Rachel DiMarcello went 3 for 5 with 3 triples and 6 RBI’s. Conrad’s catcher I. Troise went 2 for 3 with a single and a double.
