Subject: Bakersfield Blaze Game Recap 04-26-16: Late Rally Begets Narrow Loss in Lancaster
To:

The scratching, clawing, and at times homer-slugging Bakersfield Blaze mounted a furious late rally in the cold winds of the Antelope Valley, but the season’s demon – one-run losses – bit the club once more, falling to the host Lancaster Jethawks 5-4 on Tuesday night.
Tyler Pike (L, 0-2) continued his unlucky start to 2016, striking out seven batters over 5.0 innings of work while allowing just two earned runs, but left with his club trailing 3-0.
Meanwhile, Jethawks starter Evan Grills (W, 2-0) worked 5.0 no-hit innings before coming out due to the Houston Astros innings limiting of their young starting pitchers.
The Blaze went to work in the 6th. With other-starter Elieser Hernandez on the hill, Drew Jackson plunked a single into right before Austin Wilson catapulted a two-run homer onto Avenue I beyond the leftfield wall. The Blaze trailed just 3-2.
But the Jethawks countered with two in the home half off Aaron Brooks, pushing the lead back to three.
Bakersfield posted the third straight two-spot on the scoreboard in the 7th, and this time it was the power bat of Austin Cousino, tomahawking a shot over the wall in rightfield and bringing the Blaze to within just a 5-4 margin.
The Blaze would not clear the hump. Riley Ferrell (S, 4) got the final five outs for the save, working around two singles and a wild pitch in the 9th to strand the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position.
The series continues on Wednesday with game two of the club’s season-long ten-game road trip. Eddie Campbell gets the start, with first pitch set for 6:35pm in Lancaster.
Listen live on TuneIn Radio and at BakersfieldBlaze.com. Dan Besbris has the call.

GAMECOCKS DEFEAT MISSOURI 8-5 IN SERIES OPENER

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior outfielder Gene Cone extended his hitting streak to 25 games and went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI as fourth-ranked South Carolina defeated Missouri 8-5 on Friday night at Founders Park. The Gamecocks are now 31-8 and 12-4 with Missouri dropping to 20-19 and 4-12 in league play.

Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Gamecocks began their rally with a leadoff double to right-center off the bat of Alex Destino. After a wild pitch advanced Destino to third base, Jonah Bride would drive him in on a RBI base hit. Missouri third baseman Shane Benes would then drop a popup in the infield off the bat of LT Tolbert to give the Gamecocks a pair of runners. With one out, DC Arendas walked to load the bases. Marcus Mooney would drive in Tolbert on a fielder’s choice to cut the deficit to a run. With runners on first and third and two outs, Gene Cone belted a double down the left field line that scored both runners and gave Carolina a 5-4 lead. The Gamecocks extended the advantage with three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Cone and Thompson-Williams each drove in a run with Cone scoring on a wild pitch as well. Missouri would get a single run in the ninth inning.

South Carolina junior right-hander earned the win in relief with 0.2 scoreless innings. He is 3-1 on the year. Sophomore right-hander Tyler Johnson allowed just a solo homer in 2.2 innings and struck out four for his third save of the season. Missouri reliever Cole Bartlett suffered the loss and is now 2-4 for the season. He allowed a run on one hit and a walk in 0.2 innings.

Missouri struck for a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Zach Lavy led off with an infield single and Brett Bond was hit by a pitch with one out. After a groundout moved both runners into scoring position, Ian Nelson knocked a RBI single to center score both runners and give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Missouri increased the lead to 3-0 in the third inning. Ryan Howard and Lavy each singled to open the frame with Howard scoring on Trey Harris’ sac fly to center field.

Carolina answered with a run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the deficit to a pair of runs. Gene Cone doubled down the right field line and scored on John Jones’ second hit of the night, a two-out RBI single to left-center.

A pair of doubles would give the Tigers a 4-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Kirby McGuire doubled with one out to right field and scored on Jake Ring’s two-out RBI double to the gap in right-center.

GAME CHANGER
Cone’s two-out two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning capped a four-run frame that helped give the Gamecocks a lead they would never relinquish.

KEY STAT
Carolina scored seven runs in the final three innings at the plate to rally for a three-run victory.

NOTABLES
Gene Cone tied the South Carolina single-season school record for a hitting streak at 25 games with a double in the third inning. That tied him with Greg Keatley, who had a 25-game hitting streak in 1976. It is one shy of the school record of 26 set by Whit Merrifield in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He tied his career-high in hits with three on the night, the 10th time in his career he has had three hits in a game.

Sophomore right-hander Clarke Schmidt allowed four runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings with two walks and five strikeouts in a no-decision.

South Carolina’s 10-hit night included a 3-for-4 day at the plate from Jonah Bride and two more hits from John Jones.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Chad Holbrook
We feel very fortunate to have won, obviously a big win for us. We didn’t get off to a great start and didn’t look too good when we were down 4-1 in the top of the sixth. It didn’t look good but that happens in this league from time to time because all of the opponents are good teams, they can push you around some. Clarke didn’t have great stuff but he had good stuff, he just wasn’t comfortable and his location wasn’t as precise and crisp as it has been all year long, but he still battled and got a few big outs for us. He kept us in the game and within striking distance. That’s one of the neat things about our team this year. We have picked each other up. Clarke wasn’t his best but Reed and Tyler picked him up. As a coach that is really neat to see. And offensively, Gene with the big hit in the sixth to get us the lead and we had a big bottom of the eight that made things feel a lot more comfortable. It was a good win for us, a good Friday night win, but obviously we will have our hands full tomorrow with one of the best arms in college baseball. I feel very relieved and fortunate that we were able to get this one when things didn’t look that hot at some points in the game. We will take it and move on.

UP NEXT
Game two of the series is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. Saturday is also the official dedication for Founders Park. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the pregame ceremony will start at 3:45 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network Plus and can be heard on the Gamecock IMG Network including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.”

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 1-0, in 15 innings Friday night in game one of a three-game series at Illinois at Illinois Field.  After more than three hours and 56 minutes of scoreless baseball, the Fighting Illini (19-16, 5-5 B1G) plated the game-winning run on a two-out wild pitch in the bottom of the 15th inning. The Buckeyes drop to 24-13-1 overall and 4-6 in Big Ten play.

Kyle Michalik received the loss to drop to 1-1, tossing 0.2 innings on one run, two hits with one strikeout. Charlie Naso received the win, improving to 1-1, throwing the final inning with a pair of strikeouts.

STRONG PITCHING FOR BOTH SIDES

It wasn’t exactly a hitter’s night in Champaign. The batters on both teams struggled against two strong pitching staffs on a chilly and breezy evening. Ohio State starting pitcher Tanner Tully tossed nine scoreless innings on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk, while Illinois starter Cody Sedlock threw an impressive 10.2 scoreless innings and struck out 14 on five hits and one walk.  The two dominant starters, though, both received no decisions.  In all, there were a combined 33 strikeouts from both teams. Ohio State left nine on base, while the Illini left 11 stranded in the series opener.

OTHER MOMENTS THAT MATTERED

The Buckeyes put some pressure on Sedlock in the top of the second, but couldn’t push any runs home. Nick Sergakis led off the inning with a single to center. After Troy Kuhn walked, Sergakis was caught off the bag on second base for the first out. Tre’ Gantt singled up the middle, but the two Buckeyes were left stranded as Sedlock fanned the last out of the inning. Tully got out of a jam in the bottom half when he helped turn a double play on a chopper back to the mound.

Both squads had trouble vs. the aces through the next four frames. Tully left two runners on in the bottom of the seventh after a pair two-out singles. Troy Montgomery made a challenging over-the-shoulder catch look easy at the wall in center for the first out before Ronnie Dawson snagged a running catch on a liner in left to end the seventh.

In the top of ninth, Ohio State got a runner on second base with one down vs. Sedlock, but failed to strike the scoreboard. Jalen Washington led off the inning with a single through the left side and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. But Sedlock continued to work and struck out the next two OSU hitters to keep it knotted zeros.

The Illini had the winning run with runners on the corners and two down in the bottom of the ninth, but Tully stayed focused and induced a ground out to Craig Nennig to force extra innings. Washington knocked a two-out single in the bottom of the 11th to end Sedlock’s day, but was caught stealing second base.

The Scarlet and Gray loaded the bases in the top of the 12th, but still couldn’t find a run. Ryan Leffel reached base on a strikeout and wild pitch and was pinch run by Shea Murray. Illini reliever Nick Blackbun then had issues with control and loaded the bases with a pair of walks, but then fanned Nennig to leave it loaded.

The 13th inning went scoreless. Ohio State loaded the bases for the second time on the evening in the 14th, but once again, could not push home a run. Montgomery had a lead-off walk and stole second followed by a hit by pitch on L Grant Davis. With one down, Sergakis was intentionally walked to load the bases. However, Blackburn claimed two straight punch outs to keep it scoreless.

TULLY TALK

The 2014 Big Ten Freshman of the Year was pretty masterful on the bump vs. the Illini. He equaled his career high with nine innings pitched, scattering seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts. He threw 106 pitches in the contest with 71 strikes and was relieved by right-hander Seth Kinker to start the bottom of the tenth.

TO THE BULLPEN

Kinker retired the first two outs of the tenth inning. He fielded a swinging bunt down the third base line smoothly and fired a fastball to first base for the second out before being replaced by left-hander Michael Horejsei. The OSU senior lefty dropped a hammer on a 1-2 count to get lead-off hitter Jack Yalowitz to chase for the strikeout and end the side. In the 11th, Horejsei kept it scoreless with a 1-2-3 frame.  He reacted well on a line drive back to the hill to move the game into the 12th inning. Right-hander Yianni Pavlopoulos pitched the next three frames and left a runner on in the 12th and 13th, respectively. He got out of bases-loaded jam in the 14th with his second strikeout of the night. Michalik came in to start the bottom of the 15th and struck out a batter before allowing two singles and a wild pitch to end the game.

ANOTHER PLAY BY @SURGIEEBABY

It seems like every game now the senior co-captain is adding a defensive play at the hot corner to his Buckeye highlight reel. In the bottom of the sixth, Sergakis dove to his left on a one-hopper and leaped to his feet quickly and fired a strike to Bosiokovic at first base to retire the side in the fifth.

UP NEXT
Ohio State and Illinois meet in game two ET Saturday at Illinois Field. Senior left-hander John Havird (3-1, 2.80 ERA) squares off vs. left-hander Doug Hayes (5-2, 3.25 ERA). The contest will be streamed for free on fightingillini.com. Fans can also listen on AM 1460 ESPN or on OhioStateBuckeyes.com ($).

  1. 5 LSU DROPS GAME 1 TO NO.6 MISSISSIPPI STATE, 12-8

BATON ROUGE, La. – With one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, freshman Antoine Duplantis smacked his first collegiate home run for a grand slam over right field wall to cut the Mississippi State lead to one run, but that was not enough for the Tigers as fifth-ranked LSU fell to No. 6 Mississippi State, 12-8, Friday night at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

With the win, Mississippi State improved to 26-12-1 and 9-7 in Southeastern Conference play while LSU fell to 26-12 and 9-7 in conference play.

Game 2 of the series will begin Saturday at 6 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field and will be aired on ESPNU. The game can be heard on the LSU Sports Radio Network, including 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge. Fans can go to LSUsports.net for live stats and audio through the GeauxZone.

Right-hander Dakota Hudson (5-3) earned the win for the Bulldogs after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing seven runs on 12 hits. He struck out three and walked three.

Reid Humphreys had his fourth save of the season after entering to pitch from left field in the eighth inning. The right-hander fired 1.1 innings and struck out two.

Southpaw Jared Poche’ (5-4) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs—six earned—on eight hits in six innings pitched. The junior struck out two and walked two.

“It was certainly a wild game, and unfortunately we just fell short,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “I’m so proud of our guys for the way they competed during the entire game. We have not have won, but it wasn’t due to a lack of effort. Our hitters did a tremendous job against a pitcher (Hudson) who will likely be selected in the top half of the Major League draft in about a month and a half. I think the difference in the game were some defensive miscues that we couldn’t quite overcome.”

In the top of the first inning, Mississippi State centerfield Jake Mangum singled up the middle. After a one-out walk, an error and a fielder’s choice loaded the bases, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe sent a grand slam over the right field wall to put the Bulldogs up 4-0.

With two outs in the bottom of the second, LSU third baseman Chris Reid started a four-hit inning with a single to third base. Catcher Michael Papierski followed with a single up the middle to put runners on the corners. Back-to-back RBI singles by second baseman Cole Freeman and right fielder Antoine Duplantis scored Reid and Papierski to cut State’s lead to 4-2.

LSU tied the game at 4-4 in the third after Reid singled through the right side with runners on the corners and one out to score Beau Jordan from third. In the next at-bat, Papierski dropped a sacrifice bunt and reached first on a fielder’s choice as Beau Jordan scored to even the game.

With two outs and runners in scoring position in the top of the sixth against Poche’, second baseman Hunter Stovall sent a two-RBI double to the right-centerfield gap. An intentional walk put runners on first and second, and third baseman Gavin Collins doubled down the right field line, scoring Stovall to give Mississippi State the 7-4 lead.

In the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and no outs, designated hitter Jack Kruger drove a sacrifice fly to right field to score Humphreys from third after he led off the inning with a single up the middle. With a runner on third and two outs, shortstop Ryan Gridley singled through the left side to score Lowe, adding to the 9-4 Bulldog lead.

After a single by designated hitter Bryce Jordan to open the LSU seventh, Papierski was hit by a pitch, and Freeman walked to load the bases for the Tigers. Duplantis drilled a grand slam over the right field wall to put LSU within one run.

The Bulldogs added three unearned runs on two hits in the top of the eighth when right fielder Brent Rooker ripped a two-out single up the middle, and Lowe followed with a double to left field to drive in two runs to make it 12-8 Mississippi State.

Men’s Lacrosse Earns Quarterfinal Bye With 12-6 Win Over Black Knights

BALTIMORE — Zach Herreweyers scored a season-high five goals, and Pat Spencer finished with six points as ninth-ranked Loyola University Maryland beat the U.S. Military Academy, 12-6, on Friday night, securing a bye to next weekend’s Patriot League Semifinals.

The Greyhounds will play Friday, April 29, in Annapolis, Maryland, in a 7:30 p.m. game that will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Loyola will be the No. 2 seed and face the lowest-remaining seed in the semifinal.

The host U.S. Naval Academy is the No. 1 seed, followed by Loyola, Bucknell University, Army West Point, Lehigh University and College of the Holy Cross.

Loyola (10-3 overall, 7-1 Patriot League) never trailed in the game at Ridley Athletic Complex and built a 3-1 lead on the first of Tyler Albrecht’s two goals. After Jay Drapeau and Spencer scored the Greyhounds’ first two goals, Albrecht caught a Spencer feed and stepped into an 18-yard shot from the top right to score with six seconds left in the opening period.

The 20th-ranked Black Knights (8-5, 5-3) got back within one 2:58 into the second when Cole Johnson hit Nate Jones cutting to the crease.

Herreweyers, however, was the beneficiary of Spencer’s second assist when the latter initiated the offense with a strong dodge from ‘X,’ and hit the former on the crease for a one-timer at 8:32.

Army West Point bounced back with a goal 1:17 later when Connor Cook picked up a ground ball behind the cage after a missed Black Knights shot, rolled topside and snuck a low shot in to cut Loyola’s advantage to 4-3.

Albrecht came back with his second goal, this a 17-yard sidearm strike from the top of the box after Romar Dennis hit him with a rollback pass. His second goal of the evening put Loyola in front 5-3 with 6:27 to go in the first half and sparked a 4-0 Greyhounds run.

John Duffy used a Spencer feed to score from 12 yards out at 5:17 and exactly a minute later, Herreweyers scored his second of the game. Spencer inverted and distributed from point, sending a pass to Zack Sirico on the right side of the crease, and Sirico immediately shot a pass to Herreweyers who was in the middle from seven yards out.

Brian Sherlock scored at 3:19 – the Greyhounds’ fourth goal in three minutes, eight seconds — running from left-to-right to score unassisted.

Sherlock’s goal extended the lead to 8-3 in Loyola’s favor, but Army West Point trimmed its deficit to four at 1:59 when Jimbo Moore scored his first of two.

The Greyhounds did not shot any letup in the third quarter, charging out of halftime to score the first three goals of the half.

Herreweyers was responsible for all three goals, the first that came when he intercepted a pass on a Black Knights clear and drove the crease for his third of the day.

After that goal at 10:25, he scored Loyola’s third of the day with the 30-second timer on, catching a Jeff Chase flip in traffic to drill a five-yard shot from the low left wing.

He then added his fifth of the game with 1:52 remaining in the third quarter, culminating the execution of a fake-flip on extra-man. Spencer faked a flip to Sherlock 15 yards out, and Sherlock ran to the middle for a shot-fake while Spencer hit Herreweyers with a pass inside six yards.

Herreweyers wheeled to his left and stuck a shot inside the near post to give Loyola an 11-4 cushion.

The Black Knights would score before the third quarter ended when Moore tallied an unassisted goal after slipping past two defenders on the left side, making it 11-5 Greyhounds with 55 ticks left in the frame.

Neither Loyola, nor Army West Point scored early in the fourth until Ted Glesener broke through for the Black Knights with an extra-man goal at 3:20.

Spencer tacked on a man-down goal with 26 ticks left to provide the final scoring for Loyola.

Loyola had a 41-36 shot advantage, but the Greyhounds used a wider margin in groundballs to help control possession. Graham Savio picked up seven from the faceoff ‘X,’ as Loyola posted a 34-25 lead off the ground.

The Greyhounds also forced 12 Army West Point turnovers, including four on the Black Knights’ 13 clearing attempts. Meanwhile, Loyola cleared the ball successfully 16-of-18 times and had only nine giveaways.

Jack Carrigan and David Manning each had four ground balls for Loyola, and Foster Huggins picked up three. Huggins caused three turnovers, Manning had two and Carrigan had another.

Jacob Stover made 12 saves, including six in the third quarter as Army West Point outshot Loyola, 19-10, in goal for the Greyhounds. A.J. Barretto had eight saves for the Black Knights.

With his two goals and four assists, Spencer tied the Loyola freshman record for points in a season with 58. He matched the 1984 total put up by Dave Kasemeyer. He also moved into a tie for seventh-place (Justin Ward, 2013) for single-season assists with 35.

Herreweyers crossed the 100-point threshold for his career. He now has 89 goals and 102 points in 37 career games. He has posted three or more goals 19 times.

DURHAM, N.C. – Junior attackman Jack Bruckner scored four goals and the Blue Devil defense held 15th-ranked Marquette without a goal over the final 53:36 as 13th-ranked Duke earned a 16-1 victory on Friday night at Koskinen Stadium.

The Blue Devils improve to 9-6 on the year while the Golden Eagles fall to 9-3.

“I’m extremely proud of our seniors,” said head coach John Danowski. “We have 15 seniors, which is a lot, and they handled themselves so well tonight. We are very delighted with the outcome.”

Marquette entered the game with the top-ranked defensive unit in the country, allowing just 6.54 goals per contest, but the Blue Devils managed five markers in the opening period and added four more tallies prior to intermission.  Bruckner tossed in three of his four markers in the opening half.

Duke’s Justin Guterding finished the night with three goals and three assists while other Blue Devils with multiple points included Deemer Class (1 goal & 1 assist), Chad Cohan (1 goal & 2 assists), Myles Jones (2 goals & 1 assist), Case Matheis (2 assists) and Brad Smith (1 goal & 1 assist).  Faceoff specialist Kyle Rowe won 10-of-15 restarts and collected a game-high seven ground balls.

“I think the thing about tonight’s game was that we played right,” Danowski said. “Marquette was sliding early and often and guys were playing with their heads up and trying to make the correct play. They were just playing right. The defense made you move the ball around and the guys did a good job with that.”

With his three-point evening, Jones etched his name in the NCAA record books by becoming the first midfielder in Division I men’s lacrosse history to reach the 100-goal and 100-assist plateaus in a career.  In 71 career games, Jones has 122 goals and 100 assists.

The Blue Devil defense was spearheaded by goalkeepers Danny Fowler (6 saves, 1 goal allowed in 41:23) and Luke Aaron (6 saves, 0 goals allowed in 18:37) as the Golden Eagles scored just once on 25 total shots.  Marquette’s lone tally of the night – a goal by Kyran Clarke – came at the 8:36 mark of the opening quarter.  The one goal allowed by the Blue Devils marked the fewest Duke has surrendered since a 16-1 triumph over Bellarmine on February 28, 2006.

Friday night’s tilt marked the final home regular season game for 15 Duke seniors, who have helped the Blue Devils to 54 wins, two ACC regular season titles and two NCAA championships over the past three-plus seasons.

Duke will travel to Kennesaw, Ga., for the ACC Tournament next week with semifinal games set for Friday.

No. 19 Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Downs No. 17 Penn State In 15-14 Thriller To Reclaim Friendship Cup

Jules Heningburg eight points as Scarlet Knights clinch berth in Big Ten Tournament

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 19 Rutgers men’s lacrosse team defeated No. 17 Penn State 15-14 in front of 2,328 fans at High Point Solutions Stadium on Friday Night. The win puts the Scarlet Knights at 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten. Rutgers also captured the Friendship Cup after defeating the Penn State (7-6, 1-3 Big Ten) and clinched its first ever bid to the Big Ten Conference Tournament.

Jules Heningburg had a career high six goals on the night. Heningburg’s eight total points were a team high. Scott Bieda scored three goals and was second on the team with six total points. Adam Charalambides and Jeff George each scored two goals for the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers trailed 6-1 and 13-9, but each time rallied back. The Scarlet Knights did not lead in the game until the 7:12 mark of the fourth quarter, but scored six of the final seven goals to ice the victory. The Scarlet Knights outshot the Nittany Lions 40 to 36 and recorded a 34-27 advantage in ground balls.

“This is one of the greatest feelings in the world,” Rutgers senior captain Scott Bieda said. “I couldn’t ask for a better moment than tonight. I’m so excited for all our seniors. We really created a culture here that is unbelievable. Every year we’ve got better. We’re a family. We’re true brothers together. That’s the true testament of these seniors.”

“I’m very proud of everything this team has accomplished,” head coach Brian Brecht said. “This was a great night for our seniors. I’m happy and excited for them. We have some great leadership in that locker room. This was a great win for us, for our program, for our seniors, and for our alumni.”

The home squad started slow, and the Nittany Lions jumped out to a 6-1 lead. In the second quarter, Rutgers flipped the script, outscoring PSU 6-1 In the frame. RU got the streak started with three goals in a span of 1:21, with Heningburg tallying twice, sandwiched around a goal from Christian Trasolini. Another two Heningburg goals and Charalambides’ second tally of the night evened the score up at 7-7, with RU dramatically scoring with just 13 seconds left in the half to tie the score at 30 minutes.

In the third quarter, Penn State counterpunched. The visitors scored a quick three goals, and led 10-8 at the 11:37 mark of the third quarter. The two squads alternated scoring from there, with PSU establishing a 13-9 lead with 19 minutes to play.

From that point, Rutgers took over. A goal from Jeff George ignited a run of six consecutive Scarlet Knights goals, turning a four-goal deficit into a two-goal advantage. George’s tally was his first of two in that span, and alongside goals from Bieda and Christian Mazzone, RU evened the game at 13-13.

With just over seven minutes remaining in the game, the Scarlet Knights took the lead for good on one of the most spectacular individual efforts of the season. Penn State made a save, and the goalkeeper looked to clear the ball. Heningburg snuck around the cage, intercepted the pass, and fired home a goal that gave Rutgers its first lead of the night. Bieda added an insurance tally, which was key as PSU had one final goal in them. With a slim 15-14 lead, RU held over one final push by the visitors, and held possession for the victory.

This was the final home game of the regular season for the Scarlet Knights and they will finish off their regular season schedule on April 30th at Ohio State.
