Palomar College snaps 3 game losing streak with a 52-13 over Southwestern

By David A. Willauer-Contributing Writer-Escondido High School-Escondido, CA-11-4-23:  The Palomar Comets snapped a 3 game losing streak on Omarion Ireland 2 touchdown runs of 16 and 5 yards as he rushed for 112 yards along with qb Jaden White’s 137 yards passing 1 touchdown pass of 20 yards to Jake Whitehead and scored on a 9 yard run as they defeated the Jaguars of Southwestern College by a 52-13 score.

Joe Earley Palomar Head Football Coach: “It’s always a good feeling that you have in the game when you up by 21 points, our squad wasn’t hitting on all cylinders.” “Southwestern’s offense came out on the Double Wing formation but our guys played well today in stopping the run they were trying to run clock and to keep the ball out of our offensive hands.” “We made mistakes but it’s a good feeling we felt good in a while so it’s great  to see so many of our guys make plays.”

“Once when we got our running game going that was real good, it took some time out on the clock and keep moving the chains for a first down, if we keep putting points on the board we will start playing complimentary football as we have been playing well in the last couple of weeks.” “I was pleased to see that our defense played against their offense and our offense played against their defense and we had a miscue on our special teams with a kickoff return which led to a touchdown but overall we played well and will be watching the films tomorrow.”  said Coach Earley.

“Mesa College is going to be tough which has been a down year for us that is going to be our bowl game that’s how were going to treat it and also for who ever so wins the county but were undefeated with other San Diego Junior Colleges so are they this will be a big rivalry game at their place and will get after it. ” said Coach Earley

With the win the Comets improve to 3-6 will take on Mesa College on the road for their last contest.
